Shakespeare Unscripted: A Practical Introduction to Performance with Dr. Kahrić
On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Dr. Damir Kahrić, lecturer at the English Language and Literature (ELIT) and English Language and Literature, Teaching (ELT) programs, led a dynamic and interactive summer school workshop titled "From Page to Stage: Shakespearean Acting Techniques".
The workshop, held in the afternoon hours, offered a unique opportunity for students to explore the world of Shakespeare through a hands-on, performance-based approach. Under Dr. Kahrić’s guidance, participants explored key elements of stage acting, including the use of language, voice, and physical expression.
Students engaged in practical exercises that introduced them to foundational acting methods inspired by Shakespearean drama. The session focused on making complex texts accessible and enjoyable, using understandable and vivid dramatic excerpts as tools for learning. From stage speech and movement to expressing stage emotions, participants were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and bring characters to life in an engaging and supportive environment.
The workshop was met with enthusiasm, highlighting the value of merging literary study with performance to foster a deeper understanding of famous texts. Dr. Kahrić’s energetic and student-centered approach transformed the afternoon into an inspiring experience for all Summer School newcomers involved.
