From Concept to Space: Armin Ćosić on Contemporary Exhibition Design

The Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) study program organized a guest lecture by Mr. Armin Ćosić, a renowned exhibition designer and visual artist, offering students valuable insight into contemporary exhibition practices.

During the lecture, Mr. Ćosić spoke in detail about the process of designing and realizing exhibitions, with particular emphasis on the preparation of photographic works for exhibition, visual storytelling, and the relationship between photography, narrative, and exhibition space. Drawing on his extensive professional experience, he shared practical examples from his work on exhibitions for the Sarajevo Photography Festival, highlighting the importance of conceptual coherence and thoughtful spatial design.

The lecture also addressed the collaborative nature of exhibition production, focusing on cooperation between designers, photographers, curators, and cultural institutions, and the role of interdisciplinary teamwork in creating meaningful cultural experiences.

Highly practical and inspiring, the lecture enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of exhibitions as integrated visual and conceptual experiences, rather than a simple presentation of individual artworks. Through real-world examples and professional insights, students were encouraged to think critically about how design choices shape audience perception and engagement.
