From Treskavica to the Canvas: IUS Alumnus Nino Lojpur Exhibits at His Alma Mater
The mountain landscape of Treskavica became a meeting point between nature, memory and emotion at the IUS Art Gallery on October 12, 2026, with the opening of “The Bond Between Man and the Nature” by IUS alumnus Nino Lojpur. The exhibition was opened by IUS Art Gallery Director Prof. Dr. Meliha Teparić.
A graduate of the IUS Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) study program, Lojpur went on to complete a master’s degree in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. The young Sarajevo artist explores the relationship between nature and inner landscapes through expressive abstraction and a rich use of color.
The exhibition brings together nine paintings that examine the connections between a person’s inner world and their surroundings. Their central motif is Mount Treskavica, transformed through the artist’s personal perspective into monumental forms that convey both the mountain’s physical presence and the memories, feelings and impressions associated with it.
Rather than simply depicting a landscape, Lojpur creates a world shaped by his experience of it. His paintings translate a personal connection with the mountain into abstract visual forms, while leaving viewers room to discover their own meanings and emotional responses.
Presenting this body of work at his alma mater, Lojpur brought his continuing artistic development back to the IUS community, inviting visitors to reflect on how the places we encounter become part of our inner lives.
