“Take What You Need” Installation Encourages Mindfulness and Emotional Support at IUS

As part of the IUS SDG Committee’s activities during IUS SDG Week 2026, the International University of Sarajevo presented an inspiring installation titled “Take What You Need,” created under the mentorship of Assistant Prof. Dr. Lejla Mustoo-Başer from the Psychology (PSY) study program, together with students Azra Hadžić, Sajra Pinjo, Aldin Gusinac, Nejra Turković, and Salko Hamzić.

Designed as an interactive and reflective space, the installation invited participants to pause for a moment, recognize their current emotional needs - such as strength, hope, calmness, or self-regulation - and choose an encouraging quote that could offer support and inspiration in that moment.

Closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being, the installation highlighted the importance of mental and emotional care within everyday student life. Through a simple yet meaningful concept, it encouraged mindfulness, self-reflection, and mutual support across the university community.

The project served as a reminder that well-being is an essential part of personal and academic growth, and that even small gestures of encouragement can have a meaningful impact. By creating space for reflection and emotional awareness, the installation added a valuable human dimension to the broader sustainability agenda of IUS SDG Week.

Through initiatives like this, the International University of Sarajevo continues to foster a supportive, caring, and socially responsible academic environment in which the well-being of students and the wider university community remains an important priority.
